The Charlottesville 29 Restaurant Auctions.

cville29Starting today, local food resource The Charlottesville 29  will be offering up one-of-a-kind food experiences to benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Sponsored by McGuire Woods and presented by C. Simon Davidson the food enthusiast and writer extraordinaire behind Cville 29, this fundraiser promises not only a unique way to experience every restaurant on his esteemed list, but a way to feed the hungry in our area on a large scale. I profiled Simon early on in Episode 7 of the podcast. When I heard about this fundraiser? I got chills. Because it’s that good folks.

Since 2013 The Charlottesville 29 has been a go-to resource for not only discovering the best places to eat in our area, but learning about the folks bringing all of these delicious dishes to you. His profiles of restaurants and the chefs behind them provide an in-depth, behind the scenes look at his top 29 choices. His column “Five Finds on Friday” is my absolute favorite. I’ve discovered so many dishes I would never think to order by reading this column. By asking local food folks their favorite menu items, he’s revealing not only what our area chefs are ordering, but providing us all with a much harder task of choosing what to eat. Not a bad thing.

Now it’s time give back to our community. For 29 days starting TODAY, The Charlottesville 29 will present one restaurant on its list and describe the signature food experience they are offering up for auction. Then it’s up to you. Bidding starts that day and continues until Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Place your bids by email at charlottesville29@gmail.com. Other details can be found HERE.

Best part? All proceeds go to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. This local community food bank feeds an average of 118,000 folks per month. But they can’t do it alone. In an area of such endless bounty and so many people excited about food, I cannot think of a better way to not only enjoy our food wealth but to give back by helping those of us who don’t always get to eat, much less dine out.

The Charlottesville 29 Restaurant Auction promises to be an exciting fundraiser, one with the potential to feed thousands of people. The first restaurant experience up for bids? Lampo. Enough said. So what are you waiting for? Get to it! Go bid! Early and often…
